After several years of intense preparation, Edina resident Pamela Holtum, a mathematician, mother, and grandmother, left a successful career as V.P. & Computer Expert, Treasury Department, First Bank System, August 1996 and went into a traditional , sealed, 3-Year Tibetan Buddhist retreat in Delhi, N.Y. Upon completion of the retreat she became the 1st Minnesota Native woman to be awarded the ecclesiastical title "Lama." Lama Pamela also holds a Bachelor's Degree from UMn, CLA, major: Optimal Psychological Development During Adulthood; and a Master's Degree, UMn, College of Education, major: Adult Education.
